Matthew K. Peters, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, came to Florida after graduating law school in 1988 to take a position as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. After taking the bar exam, he became a member of the Florida Bar on October 27, 1988.
Matthew earned his undergraduate degree in business administration at the University of Arizona in 1985. He later earned his Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law in 1988. During his time in law school, Matthew interned at the St. Louis City Public Defenders Office where he first started to develop his trial techniques and strategies.
Since opening up his private practice in Sarasota in 1990, Matthew has served the Sarasota and Bradenton areas practicing criminal and family law. He has been a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys since 1990 and served the City of Sarasota as a member of the Civil-Service Board from 1992 to 2012.
